The  New Olivet Etiquette

As Olives and as members of the Body of Christ, we should adhere to the following guidelines:

We should always bring our Bibles to every worship service.

We should arrive and be seated in the sanctuary prior to the beginning of each worship service.

We should avoid entering or leaving the sanctuary during worship period, sermon, or invitational period.

No excessive talking during worship period, sermon, or invitational period.

No Eating, Drinking, or Gum Chewing in the Sanctuary.

We should make use of the nursery when we have small children, infant to four years old.

Please make sure all cell phones and pagers are turned off during our Morning Worship Service.

Worship at The NEW Olivet

There is always incense burning at the beginning of our worship times (Sunday Morning, Sunday Night, Wednesday Night).  You might be interested in the reason for this wonderful phenomenon.  Worship is intended to be a “sense”ational experience.  In other words, we should experience God’s presence through as many of our senses as we have at our disposal.  At The NEW Olivet, we are keenly aware of the freedom God has given us, freedom to worship and praise Him.

The burning of incense triggers our olfactory senses (the sense of smell), and brings to our remembrance the scripture that says, “And I saw the seven angels who stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.  And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.  And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.” [Revelation 8:2-4].

You will also noticed the significance of the Altar.  You will see people all over the Altar. Some are standing; some are kneeling; some are bowing; some are prostrate. The Altar is the place where we are “altar”ed. We want you to feel comfortable coming to the Altar. Here are suggestions that will enhance your worship experience at the Altar.

“You are instructed to come to the altar to lay prostrate, bow or kneel, and blow kisses to God.”
